Paul asks…Questions about soy with respect to gaining muscle mass?I'm on a diet and exercise plan to lose some weight but gain lean mass (muscle). If I supplement my diet with some soy will it cause a rise in my estrogen levels? I'm a male and this is definitely not what I want. However, soy has lots of protein and is relatively low in fat.
Soy has chemicals called isoflavones that act as estrogen precursors. Do men have enough estrogen receptors for it to make a difference?
